Planning Your Wedding

We are pleased that you are considering having your wedding at Messiah United Methodist Church! We want to help make your wedding as beautiful and meaningful as possible.

All weddings at our church require the involvement of one of our church's ministerial staff as the officiating minister. The minister will work with you in designing your wedding service, and will be in charge of and direct all rehearsals and your wedding.

In addition, we request that all couples being married at our church attend pre-marriage counseling through the Marriage Mentor program here at Messiah.

Marriage Mentors

Messiah is home to a ministry that prepares newly-engaged couples for a successful and Christian-based marriage. All engaged couples getting married at Messiah UMC are required to participate in the mentorship program.

The officiating pastor will meet with the couple first to discuss the relationship and administer the Prepare profile from Life Innovations. The couple is then assigned a Marriage Mentor couple. The engaged couple meets with their Marriage Mentor couple approximately four times, reviewing the profile, discussing topics such as marriage expectations, personality issues, conflict resolution, financial management, role relationship and spiritual beliefs. The couples develop a relationship based on sharing struggles, strategies and successes.
