Messiah Living Ministry Endowment of Messiah United Methodist Church
To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! – Ephesians 3:21
Why Do We Have A Church Endowment?
The Messiah Living Ministry Endowment is an endowment fund established to support and extend ministries which are beyond the normal resources of the church. The Endowment provides an opportunity for members and friends to insure that the spiritual, educational and outreach programs that Messiah is known for today will continue to build far into the future. It is funded through a number of giving opportunities listed below.
The Living Ministry Endowment is a permanent and ongoing fund apart from the general operation budget. Gifts received are conservatively invested, with the income generated from the Endowment applied each year to support God’s work. Donors may specifically designate that the earnings from their gift be utilized for a particular ministry of their choice, or the gift may be undesignated.
What Is The Endowment’s Mission and Purpose?
The mission of the Messiah Living Ministry Endowment is to perpetuate a financially sound endowment fund that will strengthen and extend the mission and ministries of Messiah United Methodist Church through the distribution of grants. This professionally managed fund will live and grow through gifts, bequests in wills, beneficiary designations, and other long-term funding and planned-giving methods.
The church receives more requests for financial assistance than it has the resources to provide. The congregation and its friends would like to grant many of these requests because of their value in fulfilling the church’s mission and meeting human need. The Endowment makes this possible. Proceeds of the Endowment’s capital are granted for: (more)
How Does The Endowment Differ From Other Funds?
Gifts to the Endowment are deposited with The Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation, because it pools funds from many church-related entities to leverage investment opportunities available to larger funds. The Foundation funds are professionally managed and conservatively invested, adhering to the United Methodist Social Principles. The income generated is used to maximize your gift and keep it working far into the future.
Why Participate in The Endowment Rather Than Self-directed Gifts or Memorials?
The Messiah Living Ministry Endowment is managed by a fund committee made up of nine church members, the senior pastor, and the Church Council chairperson. When undesignated gifts are donated to the Endowment, the committee evaluates requests using criteria established in its governing charter to make sure that your gift is put to work where it is needed most while furthering the mission of the church.
Because the principal of gifts to the Endowment is preserved and the gift placement is managed by a committee, gifting to the Living Ministry Endowment is easy, tax deductible and long lasting.
Will My Gift Be Kept Confidential?
All gifts or donations to the Endowment will be treated as confidential business transactions. If you are giving to the Endowment in honor or memory of a loved one, the designated person(s) or family will be notified of your thoughtfulness unless you request otherwise. Gifts are presented to recipients during a Sunday worship service. Your gift will remain anonymous if that is your desire.
How Can I Give To The Endowment?
Gifts or memorials may be made directly to the Endowment in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, life insurance, annuities or other property. You can bequeath your gift by naming the Endowment in your will, and the bequest will be recorded as a gift when the will is probated. Types of gifts include:
